Shafter City Council votes on Stringham Park relocation plan
The Shafter City Council at a Dec 14 meeting approved relocating Stringham Park to Lerdo James site or downtown Central and James amid debate over community desires and potential conflict of interest. The panel authorized purchasing two additional downtown lots for future development while delaying work on police exercise equipment and delaying Work Release participation until workers compensation coverage is secured. The session also endorsed a long term city strategic plan and sought possible university donation for park land.
