Obituaries for Wilkins and Myrick noted in Shafter area
Johnie Dean Wilkins 31 of 400 Curtis Ave Shafter died December 9. Services held December 14 at Mish Funeral Home Shafter with Rev John Davis officiating. He served over 18 years in the U S Army and is survived by his parents a daughter Tammy Lee Wilkins and a son Ike Mac Wilkins. Also a grandmother Beulah Cheatwood and other family. Claude Earl Myrick 76 of 102 Godey Road died December 12 in Bakersfield Hospital after a long illness. Graveside services December 14 at Shafter Cemetery with Rev Lee Livermore officiating. He was born in Texas and lived in the area many years. He worked as a farm laborer and 15 years with Kern County Mosquito Abatement Corps. Survivors include sons Jerry and Jim and daughter Joann Shelbourne with seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mish Funeral Home Shafter in charge of arrangements. Kern County Parks and Recreation Commission meeting scheduled Thursday December 16 1982 noted.
