Residents of the western First Supervisorial District are invited to meet supervisor Gene Tackett and staff at an open house on Friday afternoon December 23 from 2 to 5 p.m. at 1324 Main Street. Tackett says the event thanks district residents for their support and aims to update them on county government.
Darlene Lynch 24 of Oceanside California appeared in Division D of the Western Municipal Court and pled no contest. Judge Milton Elconin sentenced her to one year jail suspended, three years probation, full restitution for defrauded aid totaling $1,032, tied to unreported AFDC benefits for a missing eligible child.
The La Leche League announces the first of four Shafter meetings led by Martha DeVries with assistance from Kay Kieter. Aimed at breastfeeding support, the group offers a free lending library and materials. Weekly meetings are set for the second Tuesday at 10 00 a m in Shafter with leaders from Bakersfield Delano Wasco and Shafter area.
