School Kids Working Must Have Permits
Shafter High School principal Jack M. Hill warns that many employers and school age workers unknowingly violate California child labor laws on work permits. Minors under 18 must have permits issued by the school and kept on file by the employer. Permits can be canceled for law violations and must be renewed as invalid. A Saturday continuation school assists minors who work during the week, with reenrollment required if employment ends. Violations carry up to 250 dollars in fines or six months in jail.
