Richland students first to say thank you to veterans
Richland Intermediate School third graders and their teacher and principal staged a Veterans Day tribute after composing thank you cards to American veterans. A May mail campaign to the Los Angeles VA hospital led to a June visit invitation, a Long Beach Stand Down poster display, and a three hour bus trip with a red carpet welcome. The event honored veterans with a tour, official program, pizza lunch, and gifts for each student. The poster and memorabilia now hang in the Richland Intermediate Office as a lasting reminder.
