Richland School trustees approve district restructuring plan
Richland Lerdo School District trustees endorsed a plan to reorganize grades into K through 6 in three schools and move seventh and eighth graders to Richland Junior High. The plan aims to cut busing, save about 500000 dollars, and could begin next year with a report due January 4 to refine student flow and crossing guard needs.

Inmates Restore Bicycles For Local Children In Shafter
Seventeen inmates at the RTC rebuilt nineteen of thirty bicycles after a court order allowed the transfer of stolen or abandoned bikes. Inmates worked six hours daily, earning $27 to $47 monthly, and the restored bikes include Schwinn, Peugeot, Rally and Open Road models. Local children will receive the bikes as Santa gifts this year.
