Kern County Supervisor speaks on air quality for Shafter Kiwanis
Barbara Patrick, Kern County Supervisor, spoke to the Shafter Kiwanis on November 28, 2001, detailing air quality challenges in Kern County. She outlined the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District and state and federal rules, noting current non attainment for ozone and particulates. Patrick cited $1.7 million in federal support for PM and ozone studies, assessed Bay Area contributions, and warned EPA deadlines threaten sanctions if attainment is not achieved by 2005, urging tough choices with fiscal and civil implications.
