The four day triannual Mennonite Brothers Church conference in Reedley drew about 5000 attendees for the Sunday session. Leaders from Canada and the United States presided with reports on church missions in China and India. The event featured morning and afternoon talks by Rev. A H Unruh, Rev. H W Lehrenz, Rev. J P Braun, and Rev. J H Pankratz, with further sermons and mission updates during the week. A Bible conference was planned to run from November 29 to December 4.

Harold M. Harter national secretary of Exchange Clubs and head of the Toledo headquarters will address the Shafter Exchange Club at a Tuesday luncheon. Nor val Fair will preside as president, with Harter as honorary speaker and guest. Harter, in 19 years as secretary, led growth from four clubs to a nationwide network and helped found the national organization in 1917. He also edits The Exchangeite and is a breeder of Chow Chows.

Mennonites Plan New Church in Shafter
The First Mennonite Church of Shafter has purchased several lots in Wall subdivision to build a new church edifice. A committee will raise funds and submit plans. A church fundraiser yielded 250 dollars, part of which goes to the building fund. Worship has been in Richland school, as membership grows.
