Fest Rose Fun Run set in Wasco Festival of Roses weekend
Publicity Chairman Robert McConnell announced the second annual Fun Run to be held in Wasco during Festival of Roses weekend on Saturday September 10 starting 7 a.m. from downtown near the gazebo. The 5 and 10 kilometer courses traverse rose fields with 14 age divisions and awards for top three finishers in each race.

Olympic eagle mascot Sam to appear at Wasco Festival parade
Sam the Olympic eagle, mascot of the 1984 Los Angeles Games, will ride in Wasco Festival of Roses parade at 10:00 a.m. Saturday September 10 marching up 7th Street in the 15th annual event. Sam will also attend other festival events and may appear at the Pageant and Honored Guest Reception. The dragon colored mascot was created by Disney artists led by C Robert Moore after a nationwide contest. Separately Kern County announces landfill hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily September through October with no disposal fees for residents.
