Kern highway improvements budgeted by California Highway Commission
The California Highway Commission in Sacramento added 1,730,000 to the 1977 78 State Highway Budget for three Kern County projects. It authorized 960,000 to reconstruct Route 33 from Route 46 to 3 miles south of Twisselman Road, raising total for that project to 1,390,000 and shifting plans from a 20 foot overlay to a 28 foot paved section with drainage and asphalt blanket. An additional 320,000 was set aside to reconstruct Route 43 from Route 46 to 3 miles north of Poso Creek.
