One Armed Darkey Ray Beats Time for His Chillun
By Jewell Berry the narrator recalls Old Ray a one armed Black man who played harmonica and danced for his Chillun behind a White River levee. The Kodids kept time as he performed Yes Sir That's My Baby and I'm So Lonesome in My Dreams. Residents gathered at dusk, dancing to the harmonies he kept, while Old Ray hummed Swing Low Sweet Chariot.
