Second Annual Underwater Spearfishing Contest at Laguna Beach

Forty five California men joined the Second Annual National Underwater Spearfishing Contest at Laguna Beach. Southern California Skin Divers won with 72 pounds, led by Chuck Sturgill who also claimed the largest fish at 19 1/2 pounds. Nina Warren presented the trophy as stories describe the sport’s dangers and thrills.
