Woman Dies After Attack In Bakersfield Robbery Case
Guadalupe Ramos 71 of Shafter died after being attacked outside FoodsCo at 2505 Haley St Bakersfield. A 26 year old, Maxamillion McDonald, was arrested on charges of first degree murder robbery and elder abuse following eyewitness tips and a composite sketch.

Lerdo inmate escapes from minimum facility
On Friday August 24 at about 4 00 a m a Lerdo detention officer found a breach in the perimeter fence and inmate Manuel Ray Lemos escaped from the minimum facility. Deputies later recovered him near Olive Drive and Knudsen Drive without incident. He is 35 and held on receiving stolen property evading law enforcement and a parole violation. He had been in custody 27 days. Operations resumed at Lerdo Jail.

Local man killed at deadly intersection in Wasco
A big rig failed to stop at a stop sign at a Wasco intersection, fatally striking a pickup. The driver, Arnaldo Andres Gutierrez Arevalo, 22, died at the scene. This is the second fatal crash at the same intersection in two months, following the death of 12 year old Dulce Flor Ortiz in a separate big rig collision.

Local Blood Drives Rally Community Donors Across Cities
The sixth annual Community Wide Blood Drive concluded last week with events across Wasco and surrounding areas. On August 1 through 20, twenty eight groups organized drives including public sessions in Bakersfield, Wasco, and Shafter, with major events sponsored by KGBT Channel 17 and Prime Cut providing meals. Donors could win $100 gas cards and a Disney vacation grand prize, supporting Bakersfield’s Vision 2020 initiative now expanded countywide.
