Shafter High School gears up for the 1995-96 year with an assembly to welcome students and unveil schedules. New staff include Lisa Layshot, and girls tennis teams prepare for the season. The band, colorguard, and cheer squads attended camps, while football opens Aug 31 at Highland High School.
The first day for Richland-Lerdo students is Monday August 28 1995 with an 8 am start and 12 30 pm dismissal for grades 1 3 1 20 pm for grades 4 8 A 9 30 am orientation for morning kindergarten and 11 30 am arrival for afternoon kindergartners The schedule lists regular minimum and foggy day sessions including breakfast times and end times by grade level.
Officials urge safest travel to and from school. Four crossing guards oversee Stone Shafter Corner Stone Wall Lerdo Sunset corners with posted hours for different grade levels. Students should use crosswalks walk with friends report suspicious activity obey pedestrian laws stay on sidewalks and head straight home or to school. Do not approach animals or run. keep to direct routes and private property rules.
PIE invites Shafter area families to host exchange students from many countries for periods from a semester to a full academic year.
