Shafter recreation district may lose 40000 in 1984 85 budget
SRPD faces a potential 40000 cut from its 1984 85 budget after a state assembly bill froze funds the district had expected to receive. District Manager Mike Kelley said restoration efforts are underway with Assemblyman Don Rogers' office and called the potential loss devastating. The group plans a sports complex with Shafter High School as a joint project. A Superior Court injunction has paused proceedings amid a lawsuit by the Shafter Citizens' Action Group, with a Sept 11 meeting set to address recreation district matters.
