Burl Leon George born November 8 1923 in Louisville Tennessee died July 31 2013 in Shafter California after a life in groceries and service in the US Navy aboard USS Kitkun Bay He leaves sons Rick and Brent plus daughters in law and many grandchildren and great grandchildren A memorial service is set for August 23 2013 at Peters Funeral Home Shafter with internment at Bakersfield National Cemetery Contributions may be sent to Wounded Heroes Fund.

Ruby Rogers born February 5 1923 in Kinta Oklahoma was one of twelve children of Alice Harp and Jess Franks. She married Floyd Watkins in 1941 and moved to California in 1942 settling in Wasco where Floyd died in 1960. She later wed Clarence Rogers in 1962 and lived in Wasco until his death in 1991. Ruby worked in fields and sheds then as secretary and bookkeeper for several firms, took Wasco Adult Education night classes, quilted and sewed, enjoyed puzzles and cooking Okie dishes, and valued family time.
