Notice is given of a trustee's sale on Audh 961 06 at 10:00 a.m. in Kern County Records California. The sale secures an indebtedness for Ernest Pershing Hofman Jr and M Drennen Hofman husband and wife as joint tenants due to breach of secured obligations noted in Book 3372 Page 467 recorded April 25, 1961.
A deed of trust covers Lot 11 in Tract 2166 in Kern County California based on the map on file in the County Recorder and referenced by a 1959 recording in Book 10 Maps on pages 133 and 134 with reservations carved from a prior deed.
Public notice states a trust with interest from October 1 1959 per note and law. Vice President signs and the publication dates are August 2 9 and 16 1961 in the Shafter Press Inc.

The Wasco Chamber issued a challenge for a September game. Shafter volunteers are to contact the Chamber secretary. Eight volunteers have mustered for the effort as Paul Hoffmann, Chamber president, seeks a pitcher to throw the ball over the plate for a game around September 17.
The Shafter Chamber of Commerce urges the City Council to preserve the Orange Belt Stage line. Bus owner Bryan Haworth warns of losses and potential transfer to Greyhound. Chamber cites resident service, especially for the aged, and discusses parking, fireworks planning, and a Highway 99 sign rental.
The Shafter Public Utilities District reports the city used 129 048 000 gallons of water in July. Eight wells pumped this over 31 days, enough to cover 48 acres with one foot of water, below June’s 131 332 000 gallon total.
Ten bids were opened by the Department of Water Resources for the first diversion tunnel at Big Oroville Dam. Bids ranged from 6.19 million to 9.47 million, with the engineer’s estimate at 6.8 million. Warne said he was happy with the bids and work could start soon on this key feature of the State Water Project. The tunnel is 35 feet in diameter and 4 333 feet long, needing 210 000 cubic yards of excavation and 57 000 cubic yards of concrete.
Per capita use in Shafter reached about 18 000 gallons mainly for yard irrigation, with the potato harvest season adding to the total. July 14 marked the peak day in the month, pumping 5 528 000 gallons.
