Investigations Lead to Several Arrests in Wasco

July operations by Kern County detectives with the Sheriff and California ABC resulted in multiple arrests for alcohol sales to minors in Wasco. Persons detained include Tanyia Gonzales a 33 year old and Andrea Cavazos a 22 year old plus a 17 year old minor. Local businesses at 1000 F Street 2033 Highway 46 and 829 Highway 46 may face ABS sanctions for employee sales to decoys.

Three Injured In Elk Hills Oil Well Fire Blast

On Saturday August 3 Kern County Firefighters responded to an oil well explosion at Elk Hills base in Western Kern County. Crews treated workers on site for critical moderate and minor burns and other injuries before shutting an open valve feeding the blaze. One patient airlifted and two others taken by ground to local hospitals. Cause under investigation.
