Kotria named to California Girl's State at Pitzer College

Shafter High School junior Hallie Kotria was chosen to represent Leslie L. Robinson Unit 213 of the American Legion Auxiliary at California Girl's State at Pitzer College in Claremont from June 15 to 21, 1997. She is the daughter of Pastor Mike and Kim Kotria and excels academically while active in basketball, track, and cross country. Kotria will be honored at a May 3, 1997 luncheon.

Life Lab project aims to boost student relevance and enterprise

Officials foresee the Life Lab making the school more connected to student lives and involving youth in real world business ventures. Students will interact with local business people and develop practical projects such as nursery products tropical fish and a possible pumpkin farm to grow and sell pumpkins for Halloween while applying the three R's and science in real life contexts.
