Amateur naturalists and enthusiasts will learn about Kern Valley biodiversity at the Kern Valley Festival on April 29 30. The Kern River Valley hosts Mojave desert Great Basin coastal chaparral Great Valley grasslands riparian and Sierran forests, supporting high biodiversity. The event features nature photography birding for beginners wildlife friendly landscaping and native plant uses with short nature walks and longer field trips in Kern River Preserve riparian areas and habitat restoration. Saturday hike and birding along the South Fork Kern River require reservations.
