Band Performs At Rio Bravo And Kern County Festival
The Shafter High School band and Glee Club toured Rio Bravo Elementary on March 28 for an annual fair and as this year’s double purpose event. They also appeared Friday and Saturday at the Kern County Musical Festival with a large group of students listed as participants. Four distinct climatic and plant life zones reside within Grand Canyon National Park.

Steel Supply Said Enough To Meet Needs In Kern County
McCarthy Tank and Steel president R E McCarthy told Kern County Chamber of Commerce the current steel supply is sufficient to meet trades needs. Mills now deliver within 60 days and material should be available for local fabricators bids. The plant won a Los Angeles bid to supply 100 tons for Josephs Dam in Oregon and is fabricating steel for the Fresno San Joaquin Cotton Oil Co. Tubular steel for oil industry is plentiful.
