New Dairy Plan Boosts Income for Kern County
W H Parsons, chair of the Kern County Agricultural Conservation Committee, announces a dairy program upgrade effective May 2. Kern County dairymen will receive 55 cents per hundredweight for whole milk and 15 cents per pound butterfat for May and June, up from prior rates, to spur production. Applications must be on file at the County AAA Office, 2405 M Street, by May 31.

Mrs W C Fryatt Dies Suddenly In Shafter Home
Mrs W C Fryatt of Oildale sister in law of Mrs J W Frizzell died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage at 10 Sunday night after Easter visit in Shafter with Mr and Mrs J W Frizzell. Funeral plans include burial in Gruver Texas. The Fryatts were well known former Shafter residents.

Shafter High Teams Duel in Sierra League Debate Meet
Two Shafter High School debate teams will compete at West High Bakersfield on Friday April 26 in the Sierra League meet. Debates focus on a permanent military training program. Team members are Bob Teeters and Opal Evans, and Gregory Ohanneson and Joan Loewen.

Farm Campaign Ends Wednesday In Kern County
Kern County membership campaign under the 1946 Agricultural Conservation Program closes Wednesday May 1. Secretary Clifford E. Craig says operators seeking soil and water conservation benefits for 1947 must await the new program. The county has a 150000 dollar allowance and will compare individual farm needs to total county funds to adjust allocations.
