A list of Shafter High School girls running for Cinco de Mayo Queen with ticket sale details. Each ticket costs 25 cents and acts as a vote, funding admittance to the May 5 program at 7 30 PM in the high school auditorium. Scholarships range from 25 to 100 dollars for winners.
The 15th District American Legion Auxiliary hosts a Get Acquainted and Orientation luncheon for the 1978 California Girls State delegates and alternates with mothers. The event is April 22 at 11:30 p.m. in Visalia, cost 3.50, contact Cathy Morgan at 746-4879 for details. The 34th annual California Girls State session is June 26 to July 3 at Sacramento State University with 508 attendees at 125 per delegate.
Mr and Mrs Pete Garcia of 403 Rodriguez Street announce the birth of their daughter Irene born April 1 at 5 44 a.m. weighing 6 pounds 6 1/2 ounces and 18 1/2 inches long.

Both graduates hold BS degrees. he in earth science from Cal State Bakersfield 1975, she in home economics from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The couple will reside in Lompoc.
