Goertzens Donate 1920 Samson Truck to Kern County Museum
William and Martha Goertzen of Shafter donated a restored 1920 Samson Model 15 3/4 ton truck to the Kern County Museum. They have long supported local history, giving tractors and engines to the Shafter Depot Museum, which received a similar Samson truck two years earlier. The couple, married 60 years, have deep roots in Shafter and occasional ties to Wasco, Dodge City, Alaska, Visalia, and Colorado Springs. The presentation included the truck, original booklet, hubcap wrench, jack, and lug wrench. The donation was completed in January 2000.
