Shafter eyes annexation to expand industrial growth
Tomasello and Wade McKinney described an annexation east of the city to capture airport and Highway 99 land for industrial use while keeping an agricultural buffer. Staff say costs run about 20,000 annually for three years and 140,000 in year four, with hoped tax revenue offsetting expenses.
