Shafter Junior Miss Pageant Set May at High Auditorium
Twenty two Shafter High School junior girls enter the 1987 Shafter Junior Miss program with candidates introduced in The Shafter Press. The pageant on May 15 at the high school auditorium features Master of Ceremonies J J Bullock. The program awards 2500 in scholarships as part of a nationwide effort. over 2 8 million in college scholarships will be awarded this year. Jill Ryan, 1986 Shafter Junior Miss, won the January state contest for California Junior Miss and will compete in Mobile Alabama for the national finals this June.

Easter sunrise services set for Manuel Park April 19
Easter programs include a 6:30 a.m. service at Manuel Park with Rev. Larry Cluff delivering the message. Joyce Wiebe from Shafter will perform guitar and song for the event. Vido Fabbri, a PUPC founder, announced removing a 200 horsepower diesel engine and replacing it with a 150 horsepower electric motor. The PUC Public Staff Division, PG and E, the California Farm Bureau Federation, and PUPC discussed new ag rate options and offer a detailed analysis for farmers.
