Ben Nixon, owner of a Central Avenue upholstery shop, marked two years in business with a street fair style celebration. Friends from Shafter and Bakersfield displayed street rods outside his shop, showcasing Nixon’s hobby and ongoing restoration project alongside his upholstery work. Strong local groups Over-the-Hill Gang and Vintage Unlimited attended.
Noel Ralph Wilson a Lerdo School board member set to take office July 1 1989 was released from Lerdo Jail Facility this month after serving 120 days for a drunk driving conviction. He was arrested September 15 1988 and released March 2.
