Shafter Boy Charged With Grand Theft From Elderly Woman
A fourteen year old Shafter youth was arrested last week on grand theft charges for taking $390 from an elderly woman after she was approached with a sob story. The bank alerted police as the woman withdrew a large sum and the money was recovered after the arrest. He was cited to appear in Juvenile Hall.

Shafter Week Brings Mild Days and Cold Nights
Day temperatures stayed largely in the 60s with a 57 on Wednesday and 73 on Sunday. Nights plunged into the 30s with a low of 34 last Tuesday. A late cold spell delayed cotton planting, but farmers are restocking seed and plan to start soon at the USDA Cotton Research Station near Shafter.
