Ed Fowler, 40 year old North Vernon police officer, died at Schneck Memorial Hospital after being shot during a gun battle with two bandits in Jennings County. The suspects fled in a stolen Hudson six touring car, pursued by armed citizens and police, with responses and searches extending through North Vernon and nearby farms.

Albert J Nelson aged 81 died at 2 oclock Sunday morning at his home a mile southwest of Acme after a decline since the death of his wife and son in 1916. Funeral services will be at 3 oclock Tuesday at the Acme United Brethren church with Rev Harvey White of Elkhart and Rev Ed Apple officiating. Burial in Acme cemetery. Born May 5 1844 in Horse Cave Kentucky he was the last of a large Kentucky moved family. He belonged to the United Brethren church at Acme and is survived by four grandchildren Louis Irvin Ruth and Oliver Nelson and several nieces and nephews.
