Wind Demolishes High Scaffold Over Central Pharmacal
A fifty foot scaffold on the Central Pharmacal Company roof near Third and Ewing collapsed into an alley during a wind and rain storm at 10 40. The incident damaged the roof a brick chimney at Star Bakery and a Doc Oldham garage window with minimal other losses. The scaffold was to support a new smokestack replacement last March’s storm. Rainfall fell short of expectations but cooled the heat wave as residents noted lightning to the west and north. A stock row owned by Frank Stockover Cortland was reported killed by lightning on Wednesday night.
