Thanksgiving hunting accident wounds Waskom near Wallonia
Harry Was kom, 19, living three miles south of Wallonia, was shot in the chest and right arm during a Thanksgiving hunting incident eight miles south of Wallonia on the Elliot place. Bob Elliott, 23, a neighbor, was turning to fire at birds when the shotgun discharged toward Was kom. Waskom received wounds that are described as burns rather than deep. He was treated by Dr. Abel at Wallonia and later returned home. The injury is not severe and recovery is expected within seven days barring complications.

Earl Dale Cox son of Alfred W. and Emma Cox of 246 South Park street died at Sechneck Memorial hospital at 1 05 pm from complications after an operation for appendicitis. Born May 15 1907 he was 18 years 6 months 12 days. He leaves his parents two brothers Aaron 9 and Graham 19 months. He belonged to First Baptist Sunday School and Modern Woodmen Lodge. He finished junior year at Shields high school last May and worked at Sam B Wolf shoe factory this fall. Funeral at home Sunday 2 pm Rev T C Smith officiating. Burial Riverview.
