Dr James A Shields secretary of the board of health today issued a clear summary of quarantined rules amid a rise in contagious diseases. He emphasized sections 2 5 9 and 12 covering reporting illness in households school exposure private funerals and penalties.
The remains of Mrs. Ennis Deppert who ended her life Tuesday afternoon at her mother's home in Indianapolis will be brought to this city tomorrow. They will arrive on the 9 45 o'clock southbound Pennsylvania train and be taken to Voss Funeral chapel for viewing until the 2 30 o'clock Friday service at First Baptist Church officiated by Rev A A Cohn. Burial will be in Riverview cemetery. Despondency over ill health is believed to have caused the act. The family formerly lived in Sulphur Springs neighborhood northeast of this city.
Charlotte Mitsehke fourteen daughter of August and Mrs Mitsehke Grassy Fork township earns a bronze medal as the first in Hoosier Ton Litter Club history with a six pig litter entry. She is a Shields High School freshman and previously won gold medals in 1923 and 1924 for ten litters from the same dam.
A church bake sale to be held Saturday morning at 19 o'clock at the McLaughlin Ride corner of Second and Indianapolis Avenue. The Alpha Class of the First Methodist Church offers cakes pies home made bread and chickens.
Dr B 8 Shinness relocated his dental practice from the First National Bank building to the Vehstage building at Corner Third and Chestnut streets.
Senator Arthur R. Robinson of Indianapolis will address a men’s mass meeting at the Majestic theatre next Sunday at 3 pm. He will also speak in Franklin Sunday morning before coming to Seymour for the afternoon session under the Sunday School Rally Day committee.
Voters in Seymour discussed post election politics as the new council forms next January 1. L. E. Jennings remains clerk-treasurer as several new faces join the aldermanic body, including Abele Massmean Kriete Quinn and Largent. Wards reassigned seats show First and Fourth flipping to Dems and Reps, with Second and Third remaining split. George W. Heber and Sherman Day bring prior council experience to a largely new lineup.
Police Chief W. A. Misch issues notice prohibiting leaf burning within city limits after 4 p.m. Residents must comply to avoid penalties.
A five day Sunday School and religious institute will be held at First Baptist church in Seymour starting December 6. Faculty includes Rev W E Chalmers D D Miss Mene Brockway Rev Hugh D Pickett Rev F G Kenny and Miss Myrtie Huckelberry.
A new band named Gene Brown and His Band is organized in Seymour. Members include Robert Wright cornet Eugene Brown trombone Ed Nutter snare Theo Brown sousaphone Bones Willey bass drum and Howard Brown alto. Their first engagement is for the Louisville Real Estate Development Company next Monday at North Vernon.
Mrs Emmett Simpers announces she has opened a home hemstitching shop at 322 Third Street after purchasing a Singer hemstitching machine. Patronage is solicited.

In Noblesville Indiana on November 5 the Stephenson Klinck and Gentry murder trial heard defense witness Dr Orville Smiley argue Madge Oberholtz ers death in April was due to mercurial poisoning rather than infected wounds as the prosecution contends. Smiley countered the state medical experts with similar questions and opposing conclusions.
Everett Otte, son of Mr and Mrs Henry J Otte two miles west of the city, becomes the first in Jackson county to qualify for a gold medal in the five acre corn contest. Otte field averaged about 100 bushels per acre as Ralph Heilman of Hope and the Indiana Corn Growers Association verified the score. Otte was the sole entrant in the county and is a Shields high school graduate who did farm work under Henderson, a local agriculture instructor.
Manse Fleetwood of this city was acquitted by a circuit court jury on a charge of possession of liquor. He was arrested May 30 by Officers Russell Hunsucker and Prather. The defense claimed he was framed and that police testified falsely about three bottles found on him.
The American Legion operetta cast gathered at the legion club rooms to rehearse Char Ming for November 16 and 17 at Shields High School auditorium, but the Earl Darfler Producing Company director failed to appear and no word had been received by 2:30 pm.
The Redding township Farm Bureau met Monday evening at Walnut Grove school and elected officers for the coming year. Charles Combs was chosen chairman, Lute Goble vice chairman, and Raymond Welliver secretary-treasurer. A good attendance was reported and a prosperous year is anticipated.

Washington says the publicity feature of the income tax law will remain, despite business opposition and Mellon criticism. Administration leaders acknowledge repealing it is unlikely as they push swift tax reduction and necessary reforms, delaying action on the clause to the end. Senator James E. Watson notes the administration aims to avoid delaying the tax plan.
Chief of Police W A Misch orders leaves and rubbish fires forbidden after 4 p m due to fire risk and smoke irritation, which may cause diphtheria. City ordinance bans outdoor fires after 4 p m, authority cited for the order amid heavy leaf fall and ongoing burning to reduce accumulation.
Vice-President Charles G. Dawes is set to speak in Indianapolis on his plan to revise Senate rules. Dawes and party arrive this afternoon with a military escort from Ft. Harrison. A reception committee led by Senator James E. Watson will greet them at the station. Mrs. Dawes and Illinois figures accompany the delegation. Dawes speech to be broadcast on WFBM.
Senator Burton Wheeler of Montana asked the District of Columbia Supreme Court to dismiss an indictment charging conspiracy to defraud the government in securing oil and gas land permits in Montana. Co defendants include Edwin S. Booth, former Interior solicitor, and Gordon Campbell, Montana oil operator.
Funeral services were held for Mary Elizabeth Bell 72 at her daughter Mrs. Charles Reedy's East Columbus home. Burial followed in Garland Brook cemetery. Survived by five sons and four daughters, plus 39 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. former Mitchell resident moved to Columbus seven years ago.
Ray Stevens aged 33 of Salem, married two weeks, was injured near Huron when a B and O freight train kicked him from a car. He lost both legs below the knee and above, with one ankle mangled requiring amputation and the other above the knee. He lay beside the track until 4 p m when helpers found him.
Funeral services for 66 year old Columbus councilman and garage owner Joseph T Meredith will be held Friday at 2 pm at his Columbus home. Surviving are three daughters Mrs Ben Ropp Mrs Sherman Sublette and Miss Beryl Meredith, all of Columbus.
