Starve Hollow Lake begins the 1968 season at 11 a m Thursday Memorial Day with daily hours 11 a m to 7 p m through Labor Day. Sailor From Indiana Amid Missing Nuclear Sub Scorpion
A 20 year old Jackson County sailor Dennis P Pferrer is aboard the missing submarine Scorpion along with 11 officers and 87 enlisted men. Pferrer had planned to attend the Indianapolis 500 on his first home visit since joining the Navy. He wrote from Rome about seeing Pope Paul VI and visiting Naples and Pompeii. The Defense Department intensified the search as the Scorpion failed to arrive at Norfolk on schedule. The other Hoosier aboard is Harry D Huckleberry a 23 year old torpedoman's mate from Henryville Indiana who is set to marry after a June leave.

Young Driver Killed In Crash On I-65
A 20 year old Kentucky man, Robert Fenster Bowzee of Danville, died from basal skull fracture and head injuries after his 1968 car ran off the west shoulder on I-65 south of Crothersville. State police say he appeared to fall asleep at 1:55 am and wear seat belts, but they did not prevent the fatal injuries. A second, separate crash near Wallonia injured Jesse W. Radcliffe, 52, of Salem, when a state highway truck overturned on Ind. 135 in slick, rainy conditions.
