The Seymour Lions Club held its weekly meeting Tuesday night with Rev. S. M. Hutchison as program chairman revealing that advertising slogans can be a skill test. Thirty slogans covered products from cigarettes to railroads. three members identified 27 correctly, two identified 26. next week’s meeting was canceled for Memorial Day. Rites for Grane Victim Are Set
Funeral services for Lester A. Ward 30 will be held at 2 30 Friday at the Nazarene Church with Rev W C Morris in charge. Burial in Riverview Cemetery. Ward died Tuesday after injuries from a May 17 auto crash at Fifth and Poplar Streets. He resided 724 West Oak Street and was born November 15, 1902 in Jackson County. Survived by widow Verna Bowman and several siblings.

New Trial Denied in Harley Edwards Murder Case
Judge John C Branaman denied a motion for a new trial for Harley Edwards of Lawrence County convicted of murdering his wife near Mitchell last summer. Arguments were heard days ago and the decision was issued Wednesday. Defense has ten days to file a special bill. Edwards was sentenced to die in the electric chair, with execution set for July 17.

Automobile Recovered After Stolen From Brownstown
James Applewhite of Brownstown reported his large coupe stolen from in front of his residence Sunday night. Seymour police recovered the vehicle at noon today on the west side of Ewing Street near Second Street. The car, undamaged, appeared to have been left there shortly after the theft, having sat for two days. A gun previously in the car was not found. a holster was discovered.
