Linn Jury Seated in First Degree Murder Trial
A Lawrence Circuit Court jury of nine men and three women plus two alternates was seated for the first degree murder trial of John H. Linn of Seymour. Trial dates were set for June 4 after Memorial Day, with jurors to report June 3. Linn is accused in the August rifle slayings of his three children Jerry 5 Debra 4 Kathy 2 near Bedford.

Seymour aviation body approves land sale and master plan actions

Court Acts on Theele Motions in Seymour Police Case
Judge Jonathan J. Robertson today overruled two motions by the City of Seymour in the appeal of Calvin W. Theele over a Seymour board of public works and safety decision issued Jan. 31. A June 4 hearing date was set for a summary judgment request by city attorney John M. Lewis. Theele remains suspended after being found guilty of conduct unbecoming a police officer following an incident involving a 14 year old youth in custody.

Turner Sentenced In Medora Bank Holdup
Frank Turner age 39 was sentenced to eight years in federal prison for the armed robbery of the State Bank of Medora on June 30. Baxter is co defendant. Turner pleaded guilty to the robbery after indictment.

Rabid Skunks Shot and Killed in Jackson County Area
Public health official Jack L. Abney reports a third rabid skunk found this spring in Jackson County and 26 rabid animals located within a 25 mile radius of Seymour. The latest kill occurred Sunday on the Leroy Olson property about two miles northeast of Redding ton.

The Jackson County planning and zoning commission changed the zoning ordinance for unincorporated areas and Brownstown, Crothersville, and Medora. Reassessment Hearing Set by Indiana State Board
The Indiana state board of tax commissioners will hold a reassessment hearing June 7 in the Jackson County auditor's office in Brownstown.
