If rain continues for ten more days the price pegging effect may fail and farmers face severe hardship. The county reports widespread delayed planting with corn and wheat stalled, oats and clover slow, melons and tobacco delayed, pigs underdeveloped, and overall prospects bleak.
Sectional high school track meet pressed through rain
Forty seven athletes from four schools competed at Emerson Field in a sectional meet despite a muddy track. Bloomington led with 26 points, Seymour 19, Bedford 15, and Mitchell 1 as officials drained the field to keep the event going. Seymour received the sectional honor from A L Trester, IHSAA athletics commissioner.

About 400 to 500 visitors from Seymour and surrounding areas attended Schneck Memorial Hospital open house on Friday. Miss Anna M. Franke noted praise for community support and cooperation. Open hours were 1 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM with a piano musical program supervised by the Pi Beta Phi sorority and refreshments served in the afternoon.
