Jackson County Adopts Revenue Sharing Plan to Cut Tax Levy
Jackson County commissioners approved using Federal Revenue Sharing funds to reduce the tax levy by about 24 cents per 100 of assessed value. The plan reallocates 247000 from the budget to federal funds for ambulance service, landfills, road work, and other projects, saving taxpayers next year. The board also reviewed a request from Christian Homes Inc for selling 10 acres to build a rest home in Browns Town.

Rabies Clinic Begins Here in 1973 Session
In the first session of the 1973 Rabies Clinic, 213 animals received shots at Medora and Tampico sites. Dr. Brown vaccinated 136 dogs and five cats at Medora School, Dr. Gillespie inoculated 67 dogs and five cats at Tampico fire station. Clinic runs 7 to 9 p.m. at Wallonia fire station and Glisson's Service Station in Reddington.

Ervin to Open Watergate Hearings May 17 Hear Dean Subpoenaed
Sen. Sam Ervin announced the Watergate investigating committee will begin public hearings May 17 and has subpoenaed John W. Dean III. Dean may receive limited immunity for testimony about top White House aides’ involvement. The panel will meet three days a week, and prosecutors have not guaranteed Dean immunity from grand jury prosecution.

Two Accidents Investigated by Seymour Police
Two traffic accidents were checked by Seymour city police Monday. A 1967 sedan owned by Jessie Lewis was damaged about $50 after being rear collided in a parking space by an unknown vehicle. A North Vernon woman’s car suffered about $125 damage when Ginger Laker’s 1970 two door sedan collided with a Meyer street one way sign during a turn around Frank Johnson’s 1973 semi-tractor trailer was not damaged.

Green Thumb workers will again assist in cleaning and repairing the Jackson County fairgrounds. Fair board president Edgar Hackman reported at May meetings that this is the third year of participation. The board approved an annual picnic by Jackson County Rural Electric for July and a gospel music festival August 17 by a Key '73 youth task force.

Man Wanted Here Arrested In Mitchell
An Indianapolis man, Charles Turner 32, formerly of Mitchell, pleaded guilty in Mitchell city court to fleeing a police officer and related charges after a high speed chase. He received an $81 DUI fine, a one year license suspension, and 30 days in jail and will be held for Seymour authorities on a forgery warrant. Turner was arrested at a roadblock near Salem after leading police Saturday night.
