Special Session Of County Council Set
Jackson County council scheduled a special session at the county courthouse on Monday May 20 at 10 am to consider emergency appropriations totaling 6683.64 for the county revenue fund and 2200 for the county highway fund, plus transfers of 2700 from surveyor salary to revenue and 150 from visitors to welfare director salary. Officials at Wright Patterson Air Force Base identified the red white cylindrical object found near Zenas as a 2000 pound parachute test weight. Jackson County officials announced that all county organizations are invited to sponsor candidates for the 1963 Fair Queen contest. The pageant will be held August 4 during the Horse Show, with the queen and two attendants to reign over the 1969 Fair and represent Jackson County at the Indiana State Fair Queen Contest. Candidates must be 16 to 21, unmarried, not a professional model, and member of a local organization. Judging covers beauty in bathing suits, beauty in evening attire, and personality assessed by interviews. Judges will be from outside the county under Indiana State Fair Queen rules.
