In Jackson County both major parties reelected all officers at central committee meetings held in the courthouse. Democratic chairman Oakley Allen and vice-chair Gaynelle Moritz were joined by treasurer Louis Elsner with secretary Gerald Fultz, while Republican chairman Hayden Green and vice-chair Hattie Belden elected Bruce as secretary and Bruce K. Combs as treasurer. Isaac Hall defeated Leston Fleetwood for precinct committeeman in Mau Mee precinct. County district meetings are planned this week with Democratic ninth district meeting Wednesday and Republican meeting Tuesday at North Vernon.

Robert Francis Lucas two year old son of Roy W and Mabel Catherine Foster Lucas died early today at the family home south of the Muscatatuck River on U S Route 31 near Uniontown after a month long illness from pneumonia complications. Survived by parents two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services set for 2 o clock Wednesday afternoon from the home with Rev Walter Moseley presiding. Burial in Uniontown Cemetery. Friends may call at the home Tuesday afternoon.

A small fruit market building on East Tipton street was nearly destroyed by fire late Saturday night when fir trees stored inside ignited. The Seymour fire department rushed to the scene and extinguished the blaze after the structure sustained heavy damage.
