City Man Dies In Cycle Crash
A Seymour man, Billy B. Burke, 25, died Saturday night in a motorcycle crash on U S 50 near Crane Hill west of Seymour. Passenger Jansen Hendrick, 25, was injured and treated locally. Burke’s death was caused by multiple skull fractures per Jackson County coroner Keith Burkholder. Burial set at Riverview Cemetery with services at Voss Chapel. Burke survived by a widow Sandra Lillard, two children, and several relatives.

Four inmates escaped from the Bartholomew County jail in Columbus after jailer Melvin Rich was struck and seriously injured. Suspects include Gary Isenhower, 27, from Crothersville. Robert Blair, 17, of Columbus. Buddy Pollick, 25, of Newport. and Rex H. Oren, 24, of Columbus. Blair assaulted Rich with a metal window crank, releasing the others.

A frontal system from Minnesota to Oklahoma is expected to pass Indiana tonight and early Tuesday with showers tonight and clearing Tuesday. Walk-A-Thon Draws 275 Participants in Seymour Event
The Seymour Jaycees sponsored a March of Dimes Walk-A-Thon with 275 walkers and 260 finishers led by Jaycee chairman Hank Olszewski. Congressman Lee H. Hamilton and Mayor Christopher Moritz spoke at the start at Seymour High School, the route was expanded to cover the area, and finishers enjoyed refreshments and music by Plymouth Rock. Top finishers included Marc Gebhart Tom Easterday Mark Johnson Rick Zschiedrich and Bill Everhart who donated his prize. Submissions are due by June 1 to Jaycee Walk-A-Thon P O Box 201 Seymour.

Elementary Choirs Concert Draws About 600 in Seymour
Approximately 600 people attended the annual concert by the Seymour Community Schools Elementary Choirs held Sunday in the Seymour High School auditorium. Fifth and sixth graders from seven local elementaries formed a mass chorus of about 300 voices. Directors listed include Mrs. Robert Judd Red ding James L. Fritz Jackson Kermit E. Mann Lincoln and Washington and Thomas J. Rueger Cortland Riley and Emerson. Rueger presented Judd with roses on behalf of students and faculty as Judd retires after this year due to a move to Indianapolis.
