In Grassy Fork township 242 residents voted for consolidating with Brownstown Central Community School Corporation. The 339 ballots represent 73 percent of registered voters. Tampico High School will be decommissioned. a five member board will oversee the new district with schools in Brownstown, Driftwood, and Grassy Fork townships.

In Bartholomew Circuit Court Tuesday, Carolyn F Manning and her son Stephen Manning, both of Seymour formerly of Seymour, were fined 100 and costs after pleading guilty to assault and battery. Stephen received a suspended six month sentence and six months probation. The shooting of Robert Manning occurred April 7 near the Jay C Store in Columbus following a family dispute.
