Funeral Rites Held For Mrs Addie Shutters
Funeral services for Mrs Addie Shutters fifty four of Tampico were held this afternoon at the Tampico Baptist Church with Rev John Cassidy in charge. Burial followed in Russell Chapel Cemetery. She died Saturday at Schneck Memorial Hospital from intestinal obstruction and surgical shock after a long illness and major operation. Born January 31 1890 in Jackson County she was married December 31 1908 to Claude M Shutters who survives. Survivors include husband three children Mrs Gladys Childers of Indianapolis Mrs Mabel Lander near Browns Town and Claude M Shutters Jr in England a brother Gerald Weskom of Cincinnati two sisters Mrs Cora Beldon of Tampico and Mrs Polly Teipe near Crothersville and grandchildren.

Mrs. Mary R. Shake aged eighty six, mother of three Methodist ministers, including Rev. Edwin F. Shake, died in Farmersburg Indiana. She had been an invalid for fifteen years and declined recently. The widow of Rev. S. J. Shake, retired twenty two years ago, they lived at Farmersburg.

Navy Mourns Frank Knox Funeral at Arlington
Funeral rites for Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox were held at Arlington National Cemetery with a guard of honor and full military honors. Flags flew at half mast in Britain and Canada as air and sea units paused except those in battle or on emergency missions. Knox died Friday from heart attacks and had served as secretary since July 1940 with rites conducted by Dr. Fred S. Buschmeyer.

Shields High Band Attends Greensburg Good Neighbor Fest
Forty Shields High School musicians returned from Greensburg where they joined Greensburg High School and other area bands for a two day Good Neighbor Band Festival. Directors Paul W. Rigsbee E Sargeant and August Taskey accompanied the group. The 156 piece massed band performed a public concert after Saturday rehearsals and a dance plus banquet events. Local members won first chair positions in the massed band and the trip drew enthusiastic local praise.
