County voters eye primary as five days remain for canvassing. Election boards for all precincts are published with Democrat and Republican officers listed. Officials travel for supplies. May 5 is last day to distribute ballot boxes.
Seymour holds a big May Day health day parade tomorrow afternoon led by the police, high school band, and officials. The parade forms at Second and Walnut at 1 40 and travels east to Ewing then north to Sixth, ending at Shields Park where Miss Patience Dryden’s class will present a program. Prize winners will be announced, floats awarded, and a special May Queen float revealed at parade time.

Fred J. King, secretary of the Public Service Commission, led hearings on unsafe Studebaker buses running between Seymour and nearby cities. Citizens from Salon, Watlonia, Brownstown and Sevier urged new safer equipment amid reports of fires, wheel loss, hard rides, cold in winter, and dust in summer. R. M. Youngs testified the buses were unfit for passengers and warned the franchise could be revoked if new buses were not installed. Claude Johnston, Danville HL, owner of the operating company, attended with attorney William Hl. Lee and pledged rapid replacement after the morning session.
William Dixon of Car roll Iowa fled with his wife from a stop in Seymour to Bloomington. Dixon vanished from the car after his wife called her son. Columbus police and highway patrol arrested him on arrival. He faced a liquor possession charge before Judge C B Cooper.

John Hussey of Indianapolis commends Seymour High School and its leadership. He lauds Norman J. Lasher, Seymour superintendent, for putting the system on the map with efficient, low-cost administration during an inspection of Shields High School.

A fire damaged bed in room 42 at the Commercial hotel this morning. Conrad Christie occupied the room and a cigarette is suspected as the cause. Damage limited to the bed and walls were scorched by the blaze and smoke.

Associated Press reports Ohio guards will remain at the penitentiary for at least two weeks while officials assess damage from a mutiny that wounded two convicts. Colonel Robert Haubien says repairs to locks and doors will take about thirty days after the riot last Wednesday.
The First Baptist Church held its annual business meeting and presented a May 1 start plan built around a Christlike church. A Week of Pentecost from June 1 to June X was announced with Dr A T Robertson as speaker. Reports showed strong finances and 601 resident members.
On Penn campus during Ivy Week a clash between students and police led to arrests as officers cleared a riot scene near the university. Director Schofield faced a 1500 bail after a magistrate ordered police to stand by while charges of obstructing justice were pursued.
The naval treaty negotiated in London was submitted to the Senate by President Hoover. House and Senate leaders expect hearings to begin Monday, with Chairman Borah indicating support for ratification but signaling a likely lengthy battle.
Miss Louise Faulterman died at her home on West Brown Street after a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at the residence with burial in Lutheran cemetery. Survived by sister Mrs Herman Peters and five nieces and four nephews. Born February 7 1853 in Doudleytown, she never married. She was a member of the local Lutheran church.
