Fire Burns 150 Acres Near Dudleytown
A wood and brush fire about two miles southeast of Dudleytown burned roughly 150 acres of land owned by Richard Kiewitt and John Bobb on Seymour R3. About 20 volunteers from two departments fought the flames for two and a half hours, using two trucks per unit, backpacks and beaters. No homes were threatened, and the blaze reportedly started along Pennsylvania railroad tracks near Washington and Vernon townships by the Muscatatuck River.

Truck Driver Killed and Two Hurt in I 65 Crash
A Kentucky truck driver, Julian Moore Jr., 29, was killed when his 1965 straight truck was rear crashed by William Walter Trude, 41, in a 1967 tractor-trailer on I 65 eight miles north of Seymour. Trude sustained broken knee and clavicle. passenger Robert E. Martinez, 33, Russellville, fractured vertebra. Trooper Robert Allen investigated the 12:20 a.m. crash, noting both vehicles overturned and the cab separated from the chassis. Moore’s death marked the 17th fatality in the eight-county Seymour district in 1968, versus 14 a year earlier.
