Three Vehicle Crashes Checked By City Police
City police investigated a property damage crash at the Sixth and Ewing intersection involving three cars. A 1968 four door sedan driven by Donald L. Roberts caused the collision after misapplying the brake and hitting the Maschino vehicle, which then hit the Newby car. No injuries were reported.

Jackson County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey A. Nierman released a 1972 activity summary. The year saw 260 defendants charged across 58 offenses in Jackson Circuit Court including 100 major traffic violations and 44 minor ones. Burglary totaled 22 cases with four first degree and 16 second degree charges, plus two accessories. Drug cases reached 19, with 13 involving possession of marijuana.

Vernon Forks Conservancy District Elects Officers at March Meeting
The Vernon Forks Conservancy District board chose L. E. Malcomb as chair man and Richard Kiewitt as vice chairman for one year. The meeting in North Vernon also listed six other directors and noted ongoing core drilling and surveys for flood control and water resources in the upper Vernon Forks.
