Third Rise Of White River Crest At 18.6 Feet At Rockford
A third rise of White River crested at 18.6 feet at Rockford this morning, four and a half feet above flood stage. It was 18.5 feet at 11:30 a.m. and fluctuated between 18.4 and 18.6 feet for 12 hours, with an ice jam suspected between Seymour and Columbus. Several state and U.S. highways remained closed, including Ind. 39, Ind. 250, Ind. 235, Ind. 256, Ind. 258, and U.S. 31 Alternate 31, while U.S. 31-A and Ind. 46 near Columbus reopened. The East Fork of White River flooded Columbus to 16.15 feet, prompting evacuations of about 30 families in Tellman Camp and Garden City. Cortland School reopened after a two-day high water break.
