Florence Kestner fourteen year old daughter of Dr and Mrs E N Kestner of Browns town won the Brownstown spelling championship for the third consecutive year. An eighth grade student taught by Miss Annette MeOsker she previously won the city contest in 1931 and 1932. she was among eighteen contestants in the final at Brownstown High School. Death of Gerd Kiewit at 83 in Crothersville area
Gerd Kiewit aged 83 died at 4 30 this morning at his son Albert’s home south of Dudleytown after a six week illness. A German native who came to the United States in 1873 he was a prominent farmer of the Crothersville vicinity. He is survived by the widow a son and seven daughters living in Crothersville Indianapolis Freeport Illinois and Dudleytown. Funeral services will be held at 1 o clock Thursday from his residence and at 1 30 from Dudleytown Lutheran Church with Rev William F Mundt in charge.

Local men injured in wreck near Versailles Indiana
Lawrence Rush and Calvin Kroger, both of Seymour, were hurt when their truck skidded from the pavement and overturned in a ditch along road 50 near Versailles. They were taken to a Milan hospital. Rush’s injuries were internal and multiple bones may be broken. Kroger suffered cuts and bruises from flying glass. They were en route to Cincinnati.

Alexander Carpenter Dies After Illness in Jackson County
Alexander Carpenter aged sixty three longtime Jackson county resident died at his home eight miles southeast of Seymour at 10 o clock Monday night after about three weeks of illness. Born March 15, 1870 in Jennings county he was a son of Acil Horton and Marguerite Vance Carpenter. He married Albina Powell December 17, 1893 in Jackson county and survives with two sons Carrie Carpenter of Anderson and Carl Carpenter of this city, six sisters and a daughter Margie Foster who died in 1929. Nine grandchildren survive. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family
