Five Indiana counties reviewed for untaxed business property
Jackson County was among five counties examined by the Indiana State Board of Tax Commissioners. Chairman Richard Worley estimated at least 250 million dollars of personal property in Indiana firms remains untaxed, mostly inventories and equipment. In the five counties, local assessments rose from 796 963 to 1 339 230 dollars, boosting tax receipts by 35 000 dollars from 37 firms. The commission plans statewide reviews, having called in 6 000 returns, with 17 counties adding 8 324 780 dollars in assessed value.

ASC Office To Sign On Saturday For Feed Grain Signup
Jackson County ASC office in Brownstown will open Saturday March 16 to help farm owners with off the farm and part time employment sign up for the 1963 Feed Grain program. Signup ends Friday March 22. Participants may receive price support on oats and rye in 1963 without reducing oats and rye acreage. The county committee urges farmers to sign up soon to understand and join the program.
