Local Woman Killed In Head-On Crash Near Columbus
A 64 year old Seymour woman, Mrs Vinnie Rogers, died at the scene when her northbound car collided head on with a southbound 1958 convertible driven by Mrs Nancy Ann Welmer of Columbus on U S Alternate 31 south of Columbus. Welmer was hospitalized in serious condition with facial and jaw injuries. The crash occurred on a snow and ice covered road around 7 59 am. Rogers was pronounced dead at Bartholomew County Hospital. Welmer, an expectant mother, was taken to Community Hospital Indianapolis. The vehicles damaged about 750 and 800 dollars respectively. Authorities investigating were Trooper Joseph Harris Sheriff Charles Nolting and Coroner Dr Robert Krueger. Rogers had been employed at a Columbus Jay C store and is survived by a daughter and a son.

5804 New Auto Tags Sold Ahead Of Deadline
5804 new 1963 passenger car plates were bought at the Seymour License Bureau before the March 1 deadline. Mrs Norma Fettig said sales beat last year by 230 plates, with 5574 tags in 1962. About 40 motorists bought tags by noon and truck plates topped 1200. Displaying old 1962 plates today risked arrest and fines under Indiana law.

Automobile Skids On Icy Indiana Road
At 12:30 a m on Ind 135 two and a half miles south of Ind 235 a 1961 sedan driven by Jack Verble 26 of Medora skidded while passing a parked car being worked on and went into a ditch. Damages were about 200 dollars. No injuries were reported in the rainy icy conditions. Sheriff Harvey Green and Deputy Sheriff Clifford Green investigated.
