Two Men Beat and Rob Rural Crothersville Man

Albert Ladlee of Crothersville R2 was beaten and tied by two white men at his home Monday around 7 30 pm They fled with 700 in cash and his shotgun leaving him bound on the bed Ladlee received head and leg wounds and walked to a neighbor for help. state police and detectives pursue leads with ongoing inquiry.

Vernon Township Board Signs Three Teacher Contracts

The Metropolitan School District of Vernon Township board signed three teaching contracts in a special meeting led by Superintendent Robert Gingher. New coach David Chanley of Salem, formerly Pekin Eastern coach, joined alongside Mrs. Brenda Holzworth renewing first grade and William Keener of Bedford teaching fifth and sixth grades. Principal Thomas Judd's three day vacation request was approved. The district also authorized use of the softball diamond for Little League and other leagues in response to a Crothersville recreation department letter.

Man Convicted in Halloween Slaying Near Corydon

A rural Corydon man was convicted of voluntary manslaughter for the Halloween shooting death of Eldon Kintner, 57, who was investigating gunfire on his farm road near Indian Creek. The victim was 57 and the suspect faced second degree murder charges. trial moved from Harrison County to Salem.
